The initial editing phase is complete; the technical editing has begun: I have begun the detailed checking of spreadsheets. The first character so far checked appears to have gone wrong at 3rd level with DPs unaccounted for. As I go through the spreadsheets, I'll probably find problems in other contributions, so contributors are warned that I may be turning up in inboxes with errors spotted and requests for spreadsheets from level X to Y be redone. Best wishes, Nicholas |

The following three characters have survived the technical editing so far: Gnome Mage Gryx Cleric Human Vivamancer So Wolfram and Thom can sleep easy tonight. As characters survive the scrutiny, I'll add them to the list. Best wishes, Nicholas |

The current list to survive scrutiny now stands at: Dwarven (earth) elementalist Dwarf Rogue Elven Monk Elven Warrior Mage Gnome Cleric Gnome, any profession (Illusionist Magician) Human Cleric (non-combat) Human Fighter Human Harper Human Mage Human Monk Human Necromancer Human Ranger Human Thaumaturge Human Vivamancer Halfling Fighter Gryx Cleric with the Human Rogue and the Human Thief returned to their respective authors for amendment. Chris and Kerry can thus rest easy. (Kerry, you almost got an email regarding the Human Fighter - the DPs went down at level 4, but I was able to perform suitable corrections, so the character ends up with a slightly higher Presence and Reasoning.) Only Allen's five still to be scrutinized; however as they are OpenOffice, any corrections will have to done by Allen as saving them in Excel will probably mess them up. Best wishes, Nicholas |

But I sent you a mail with the tweaked/amended spreadsheets for the Human Rouge yesterday. Have they become lost on their way thru the vast world of wires and cables known as the internet?? |

ssssneaky emailsss What's the status on the art?? Any idea on when you'll have the book finished?? Any plans for other projects like this? Non setting specific adventure books, collections of magical items, monsters, places of interest? Anything at all?? |

At the last update, Rick had completed six portraits. I've sent a request to him for a more recent update. Once I've got the art from Rick, there'll be an integration/layout phase and then we'll get HARP Heroes published. I might guess sometime in February. We're always interested in adventure modules. With regard to compilations of magical items, monsters, places of interests, etc., I'd like to see how HARP Heroes sells first to ensure that we aren't embarking on a loss-making venture. Best wishes, Nicholas |

I would participate in another project (i.e. a Monster Book, or a Magic Item Book) under the same format, and be willing to forgo any $ beyond the free copy of the finished product -- if that makes it any more feasible. |

If we can't sell enough copies of HARP Heroes to break even, then HARP is in serious trouble. I am not a believer in people working for nothing on commercial projects, so any TGC commercial project will recompense its authors/contributors somehow. A Monster book or Places of Interest compilation is more likely than a magic item book (as a loot book would be very hard to get to a decent size). However, we'd need to avoid clashing with any sequel to Monsters: A Field Guide. Best wishes, Nicholas |

It could be kind of a 'persons, places & things' type book. Some persons of interest, not necessarily a hero but more NPC guildmaster and guild description, some 'guildy' item. Or perhaps an oasis fortress in the desert with desert themed items for examples. Something like that interests me more than a straight monster or item book since both still require and adventure to be buit around them but a 'places' type book is more versatile. Reason being that players have a tendency to 'wander' and it would be nice to have a generic 'places of interest' to stall them while the GM, often literally, creates the world in the direction they are going. On a hero note - do we get a hint about what the sketches will look like or if Rick has artwork printed elsewhere we could peruse? |

I'd like to see a HARP Villians... nothing like a good villian. And they can be of all kinds of different classes... like speaker and scoundrel... A villian book would be a great deal of fun. As would a HARP Menagerie... charachters of all different types who are just in supporting roles. |

Although I've seen a couple of Rick's sketches, I think his only published work is the cover of Toyman's Fair (and you can see his cover in the preview article). Best wishes, Nicholas |
On a hero note - do we get a hint about what the sketches will look like or if Rick has artwork printed elsewhere we could peruse?
The only other work that is visible online is the few banners that I did for rpgRM.com
it could be kind of a 'persons, places & things' type book.
Mocking Bird you make a very good point and I agree that would be better than say a monster/item book. |

I second that idea. I GM in my own setting and such products apeal much more to me than setting spesific adventure books. |

The January issue has already been put together - just waiting on the return of the webmaster for its upload. A preview of HARP Heroes will be released once it's ready for publication. A bundle of character portraits is expected soon from Rick. Best wishes, Nicholas |

Contributors should be receiving complimentary copy links from RPGNow Edge in their email inboxes. PayPal payments will be made at the end of the month, but I'll contact folk directly to check email addresses for those. We'll formally announce "Friends and Rivals" (the product formerly known as HARP Heroes) as soon as the May issue goes up. Best wishes, Nicholas |
