Would the death of Arwen - "by laying down in the forest of Lorien upon the hill of Cerin Amroth" not constitute burial?
Would Arwen follow the traditions of her people or would she be an exception? |

Cerin Amroth *is* a burial site, at least I think. Don't have any references to prove it, but I thought it's where Nimrodel passed away or something.

Yes, some posts may have vanished. We had, ah, a bit of a hiccup. Our sincere apologies. The posts *may* reappear, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Essentialy, posts between Sept 28, and mid-day October 3 may be lost.

Yep...Feanor's body was consumed by his fiery spirit...or something along those lines. That is why he had 'niether burial or tomb'.
Turin was fostered by Elves, however...so it could be assumed that his customs would be more Elf-like than Mannish.
Cerin Amroth was the mound/hill in Lorien. It isn't referred to as any kind of resting place before Arwen died there (afaik), and that is where her grave is located. It got its name because it was the location that Amroth chose to place his dwelling.

I can remember, or find, no reference of Cerin Amroth as a burial site until Arwen passes away. As to Nimrodel, the most direct statement to here ends that I located is:
"Of what befell Nimrodel nothing is said here, though there were many legends concerning her fate" -UT
Legolas, in LotR, states that she is lost in the south...and that niether Amroth or Nimrodel returned to Lorien again. Something like that.
Cerin Amroth's purpose, as stated in LotR and UT, was as Amroth's home which was chosen because of a) This is where Nimrodel liked it, and/or b) Had a commanding view of the rest of Lorien (from a high flet)...similiar to Caras Galadhon.

I think that's where I was thinking Cerin Amroth was a grave site, something about the Nimrodel story about how Amroth had died, Nimrodel got too sad and so sailed down Anduin and disappeared out of tales (though it's hinted that Prince Imrahil is perhaps a descendant of her).
I keep forgetting to look this up in my books when I'm a home though...

The Elven blood in the line of Dol Amroth is traced back to Imrahzir (iirc) the Numenorean and one of Nimrodel's handmaiden's. After the birth of their child, the handmaiden (who's name escapes me at this time), disappears never to be heard from again.
I would get the names right, but I'm tired to look it up at the moment .

Jason,
Yes my friend, I was lucky enough to devour it before it was sent to the void.
My PC's will be happy as they've been carting around the body of their dead companion for the last couple of sessions.
After 4 years of playing a wonderful Elven archer he eventually met his match. Just didn't seem right to send him off without knowing what to do with him.
Many thanx for your efforts.
