Just wanted to invite everyone to check out my LotR Wiki website for my LotR Miniature gaming. Being a Wiki site, anyone and everyone can edit the pages, so if you're in the mood to contribute, please do. Just dbl-click and edit away. http://www.jediwars.com/lotr -shnar |

Very nice website Shnar. Also interested to see where you got your website name, as I always meant to ask but just never got round to it. I'm glad they've sorted the rules out a bit for these minitures because the first edition ones were absoloutely awful. lann |

website name, as in jediwars.com? Or my username of "shnar"? Shnar, or properly ShNar-gRu, is explained on the site. jediwars.com was an effort I made a good 5 years ago to create a website that would join the two games X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter and Jedi Knight under a single story arc. Never got far with it though (had two X-Wing missions completed and one JK mission half-way done) but was fun. First internet site too As for the miniatures, what do you mean by the first edition ones? AFAIK, this is the only LotR miniature game from Games Workshop, there's no real first-edition vs. second-edition, though with each movie release there's been some minor updates to the rules (i.e. FotR rules are a hair different from RotK rules). Are you referring to the ICE WarLaw? Or is there a different LotR Miniature game out? -shnar |

When the game was first released (in Britain) the whole rules thing was rather unrealistic and to be honest didn't make too much sense. This was revised about 9 months after it's first release with additional material and a revamped book. I personally don't play it, but my friend is well into it and the few games I've had with him this was his major gripe - until the rules revision that is. lann |

oh, gotcha. Yeah, I've never really liked miniature games, hated the concept of getting rulers and how tedious that would be. The only mini game I really liked was Space Hulk. It had a great way of adding stress to a game. I started getting LotR just for the miniatures, and eventually I started playing. It's not bad, and while I still prefer they "hobby" part over "gaming", I do get my share of games in. The fact that they're scenarios instead of all-out-battles helps too (i.e. there's a logical objective to the game, not just a deathmatch). -shnar |

I've never been able to get into tabletop miniature games. The only ones I've liked previously were the ones that were more like boardgames, such as SpaceHulk, BloodBowl, HeroQuest, etc. Something about breaking out the old tape measure just never sat well with me. However, I'm really starting to like LotR. I love how the system gives advantages to numbers. Most RPGs don't take this into account. For example, no matter how many lvl 5 orcs you have, you're never going to kill a lvl 40 Elf Lord, just not going to happen. In LotR miniature game, numbers matter and you *can* overwhelm someone what seems like a fairly realistic fashion. I'm also really liking the whole Terrain Construction stuff As for the site, come on over. Since it's wiki, every single page is editable, so if you see a page that you want to help with, just dbl-click and start contributing. You can also add new pages/projects as you feel fit. -shnar |
