Edited by Rich Kirkland for The Guild Companion
The table in Arms Law called "Mace" is referred to in this extended list of weapons as the Horseman's Mace.
It covers the lighter maces, which are fairly small and reasonably fast.
The heavier maces that are big and slow come under the title of this weapon,
the Footman's Mace.
Please note that the non-standard statistics found on the combat table are explained in the article titled "Rolemaster Weapon Attributes" from the November, 1999, issue of the Guild Companion and additional clarification of Speed can be found in "Continuous Tactical Resolution" from the March, 1999, issue of the Guild Companion.
FOOTMAN'S MACE
This is a big mace. So big it requires two hands to wield. It is possible to wield it in one hand but if your character sees someone, or something, strong enough to wield this weapon in one hand it would be very wise not to enter into melee with them. This weapon scares opponents, even heavily armoured ones, and with good reason. A normal mace tends to put a dent in armour while this mace tends to crush armour (and the person wearing it).
This weapon is so heavy and slow that normal soldiers wouldn't bother with it. Very strong people can use it, but only those that put crushing their enemy (literally) ahead of their own personal defense. It is most likely to be found being put to use by warrior trolls and giants, as it is a step above the basic club.
