Words from the Wise (Guys)
An Editorial Rant

Discussion Boards Revamp
The planned changes to the discussion boards went very smoothly. All kudos to our webmaster
Rob Brott for making the transition so painless. When you click on any Voices of Reason link, you'll find
a much cleaner set of boards awaiting you. All the existing threads have been preserved and
you still don't need an account to post. See you there.
Would You Pay Money For The Guild Companion?
Let's backtrack for a moment.
On ICE's official forums, a thread arose suggesting that a magazine devoted to ICE's
products would be a Very Good Thing. Naturally the existence of this periodical was pointed out.
However, some posters also commented that there were a number of article types and regular features,
which they would like to see in The Guild Companion. The posters quickly recognized that
we can only publish what contributors are willing to submit.
The suggestion was then made that we should charge for access to The Guild Companion,
using the income generated from subscriptions to pay writers. The rationale is that we'd attract a higher quantity and
quality of submissions, leading in turn to a better magazine to support Rolemaster and Spacemaster.
The end result of this discussion is that this month's poll on ICE's website asks whether you would be willing to pay for
The Guild Companion, and if so, how much.
If you are a registered member on ICE's official forums, we would strongly encourage you to express
your honest opinion, regardless of what it is. The more people who vote, the more meaningful the poll will be.
You can also talk about this matter on our TGC magazine discussion board.
Rest assured, however, that we will not make any rash decisions.
The Guild Companion needs more submissions from you.
- We want to publish new
professions, training packages, spell lists, creatures, treasures, races, cultures, adventures for
Rolemaster and Spacemaster.
- We want to publish tips for GMs and generic material usable with any
- We want to publish scenarios and tactical advice for Silent Death, new decks for MECCG, new MERP resources
and articles for the d20 System.
We know you want to read articles like this.
But we can't write all of them ourselves. So we need you to help us. And by helping us,
you'll be helping the games you love.
So start writing. Submit your articles to me at firstname.lastname@example.org
