Words from the Wise (Guys)
An Editorial Rant
To the 54th issue of The Guild Companion.
It's been some time since we've talked about our plans to republish certain of ICE's out-of-print gaming products in rejuvenated PDF form, and for good reason. We've had an incredibly frustrating time battling with the inconsistencies of Pagemaker between Macintosh and PC platforms which has been exacerbated by the obsolescent versions in which ICE's archives have been saved.
However, thanks to the perseverance of Joe Mandala and the expertise of Kinkos (where would we be without them?), we have found a solution to all our previous woes. Joe will be implementing errata and addenda fixes to the Castles and Ruins and Essence Companion archives imminently and then we will convert the revised products into brand-new PDFs.
As ever, I'm wary of tempting fate by giving a date for the release of either product, but I am very hopeful that you will be seeing both on sale soon.
The Big Announcement Is Coming
But not just yet.
ICE and TGC have already come to an agreement in principle about something very big. There are some details yet to be organized and as this month is the peak of the holiday season (for me too!), it would be inappropriate to reveal the news just yet.
It will be worth the wait, I promise.
For those paying attention to Construct Companion's progress, a complete manuscript weighing in at 84,000 words was submitted to the good people at ICE in early July. Even as I write, it is already being edited, so I am very hopeful that we will be seeing it published in late September or early October. You can also expect various articles on topics such as artificial entities in Shadow World and how to defeat golems and constructs in battle to appear in forthcoming issues of The Guild Companion.
Farewell (for now ...)
Construct Companion may be complete, but there's no rest for the wicked as I have to prepare for the Conjuration (http://www.conjuration.info) convention among other things. So I'll leave you to enjoy this month's issue. Our next issue will be published in September, but until then ...
Keep gaming and have fun!
