To the forty-ninth issue of The Guild Companion.

The Official Word

And the word is "Yes!"

We have reached agreement with Rich Kirkland, Scott Moore, and Mjolnir, concerning the future of Essence Companion and Castles & Ruins. Both Essence Companion and Castles & Ruins will be republished by The Guild Companion as commercial PDF products.

With the agreement in place, we can now make real progress with the practical issues of performing the conversion of Mjolnir's archives into vibrant PDFs. As long-time fans of Rolemaster will know both Essence Companion and Castles & Ruins had some significant errata in their ICE printings. There was also a significant amount of material cut from both books. Typesetting issues will probably make it impossible for us for us to apply the errata corrections directly, and certainly trying to fit in the omitted material will "break" the current books. Hence we will be bundling "Errata and Addenda" documents with the two books, so that all purchasers have guarranteed access to the modifications and additions. We will also be providing the "Errata and Addenda" documents for free download from this website.

In our earliest issues, we published errata and addenda articles for both Essence Companion and Castles & Ruins based on what the authors had discovered to their chagrin once the books had been printed. We and the authors would appreciate it if you could post any other errors that you have discovered on the Guild Companion Modules discussion forum. Please make any postings on this subject by the end of March.

We are not able to provide a firm date for the publication of either book as the necessary contracts must be drawn up and signed. However, it will be soon.

Other negotiations concerning the rehabilitation of other out-of-print products continue. More news as always as it happens.

Farewell (for now ...)

An unfinished chapter in Construct Companion beckons for me as I wrestle with the procedures for actually making constructs and golems. If all goes to plan, I'll be sharing some of my thinking with you next month.
