Contest Invites Fans to Make PCs for Arcana Unearthed

October 9, 2003 (Renton, Wash.) -- Dive into the new setting for Monte Cook's Arcana Unearthed: Your rewards await! To celebrate the release of The Diamond Throne sourcebook, Malhavoc Press is sponsoring a contest available to all fans. To win, all you have to do is to create a character for Monte Cook's Arcana Unearthed-something that's already a lot of fun, right?

First prize is a $1,000 writing contract for publication of your character. Second prize is publication of your character and an autographed copy of Legacy of the Dragons: A Bestiary for Arcana Unearthed. The entries of the first-prize winner and the 10 second-prize winners will appear either in an upcoming Malhavoc Press product or on the company's website, Characters will be judged on both the use of game statistics and the originality and writing of the character's background. In order for your character to qualify, it must fit the following criteria:

1. You must create the character using the rules -- races, classes, feats, spells, and so on -- found in Monte Cook's Arcana Unearthed. The character stats must be correct, and your entry must include all the information on the Arcana Unearthed character sheet on page 250 of the book.

2. The character's background must fit into the setting provided by The Diamond Throne.

3. Your entry must be typed in English and fit onto no more than two single-sided typed pages. At the top of each page, you must include your name, complete mailing address, and email address. No cover letter is necessary, but incomplete entries will be disqualified. Entrants under the age of 18 must include a completed and signed parental consent form.

The Diamond Throne, a 96-page follow-up to Monte Cook's Arcana Unearthed, details monsters, magic items, and prestige classes that go along with Arcana Unearthed, and provides an overview of a completely compatible setting. All this source material is compatible with the d20 rules, so players can use this sourcebook any way they like.
