Welcome

To the sixty-third issue of The Guild Companion.

Editorial Change

Suzanne Campbell, our long-serving Fiction and Reviews Editor, retires this month from her Guild Companion editorial position, owing to increased work and family commitments. She has been one of our most dedicated and hard-working team members. Her professionalism and "pastoral care" of contributors will be sorely missed by all of us on The Guild Companion staff.

Until a new editor is appointed, the Fiction and Reviews portfolio will be managed by me.

College of Magic

The first draft of HARP's College of Magic (weighing in at 90,000 words) was submitted to ICE on the 19th of April. After several flurries of emails and much burning of the midnight oil, the final draft (weighing in at just under 78,000 words) was submitted on the 27th of April.

To bring the wordcount back down to within the available page count, we were compelled to remove one of the six magics detailed in College of Magic, and to cut some thirty spells from the various new Great Circles of Magic and existing Spheres. If all goes according to plan, the secrets of the sixth magic (black Sorcery) and the spells will appear in future HARP supplements.

College of Magic itself is now scheduled to be published at the end of this month or early in June.

TGC Modules

Now that I've escaped (for a while at least) from the deadlines, I'm hoping to reinvigorate The Guild Companion's program of modules. Expect a progress report in next month's issue.

Farewell (for now ...)

Our next issue will be published in June 2004, but until then ...

Keep gaming and have fun,
Nicholas HM Caldwell
General Editor for The Guild Companion
