Introduction:

As humanity has explored the planes of existence, some explorers have become trapped on those planes and adapted to their new home. In other instances, an interplanar entity has mated with a mortal. In all cases, these are planar beings that can be considered native residents of our world. (E.g., they can't be summoned, controlled, banished, or otherwise affected by entity-specific spells.) The ones currently known to have found their way to our plane of existence are detailed below:

Devas: Devas are descended from the mating of Winged Champions with mortal women in ancient times. The Winged Champions involved in this event were cast into the void, where they became procreator demons (incubus/succubus). Devas are more closely related to Cambions than either race cares to admit.

Cambions: Cambions are descended from the mating of a procreator demon (incubus/succubus) with a mortal. Cambions are more closely related to Devas than either race cares to admit.

Quasi-Elementals: A quasi-elemental is formed in one of three ways: An elemental being mates with a mortal, a mortal gets trapped on an elemental plane and adapts to the environment, or a catastrophic spell failure mutates a spell caster. There are seven known varieties of quasi-elemental, corresponding to the six standard elements, plus Dark.

All of the planar races see themselves as members of a fraternal group. Common humans usually don't understand these beings, are afraid of them, or are jealous of their special powers. Cambions, in particular, are often victims of prejudice due to their demonic appearance. Regardless of their planar heritage, members of these races tend to think of each other as distant cousins. When members of two different planar races get married, the children of such a union will be of the same race as their same-gender parent. (I.e., if a male Deva married a female Cambion, their boys would be Devas and their girls would be Cambions.) Except for their special appearance and powers, they are just like normal people in all other respects.

Appearance: Cambions have fangs, horns, a tail, and red eyes with cat-like pupils. These features cause common humans to mistrust the Cambions. While some members of the race are cunning and devious, others are law-abiding and courageus. (The 'wicked cambion' is a racial stereotype.)

Appearance: Devas have fair skin, silver hair, and bright amber eyes that lack pupils. The 'Noble Deva' is a racial stereotype. They are just as capable of lying, cheating, stealing, and murder as any other mortal.

Appearance: Quasi-elementals of air have pale blue skin, long silver hair (that seems to wave in a breeze even when the air is still), and blue or grey eyes. While they are of above average intelligence, they are somewhat aloof and seem to lack good judgment.

Appearance: Quasi-elementals of dark have obsidian skin, hair, and eyes. Fast and limber, they tend to be quiet and secretive. They suffer most of the same 'anti-demon' prejudices that Cambions do.

Appearance: Quasi-elementals of earth have light grey skin, hair, and eyes. Big and burly, they tend to be somewhat stubborn and unyielding. Their skin has a rough, gritty texture to it.
