Edited by Nicholas HM Caldwell for The Guild Companion

To the 121st issue of The Guild Companion and our third podcast. This will be a very short editorial, but thanks to our contributors and editors a really meaty issue in all other respects.

Life remains busy

Slowly but surely I've been getting on top of my multiple projects crisis in the real-world. Two have now moved into a "zombie" status, where I'm off the critical path and am finished with work on them, unless someone else on either project runs into a problem that needs me to resolve it. A third is being ended early at the request of the industrial partner as the credit crunch continues to bite. That leaves a mere three live projects and only two weeks of teaching term to go at the university, so I'm expecting the workload to diminish and my "free" time to start returning soon. And about time too!

Plotting old and new products

Though I've been unable to return to Something Wicked just yet, I have been able to make some headway in initiating new projects and reigniting older projects. HARP Skirmish is back in the fold again with Gavin working on simplifying his mass combat rules to use d10s rather than d100s for resolution. To support HARP SciFi, there are tentative plans for both infantry mass combat and space battle rules sets. We also have a new fantasy world under development for HARP, the manuscript of which has returned after some modest revisions and extensions by its author. I'm looking forward to seeing how the changes have worked out on that one.

Indeed I have a list of eighteen, yes eighteen, products, that I'd like to see published through Guild Companion Publications to support HARP and HARP SciFi over the next several years. That's not counting future issues of The Guild Adventurer . And I have a list of six projects so far for Shadow World, several of which are already underway.

We also have a Rolemaster Classic supplement that is currently in the editing phase - fortunately I've been able to delegate that project so I'm not holding anyone up. And finally there is the possibility of a hybrid RMFRP/Spacemaster setting in the offing, so no one should feel left out.

A lot of good stuff to come in the future.

Farewell for now ...

I have a manuscript to read and the latest version of HARP SF Xtreme to check that no errors crept in during layout, so I'm going to leave you to enjoy this month's issue. We'll be back in April with issue 122, but until then …

Keep gaming and have fun,
