Welcome

To the 142nd issue of The Guild Companion and our monthly progress report. Being December, it is also the twelfth birthday of this magazine

Not Just the Editorial

I am very glad to say that this issue is not just an editorial. We have two fine articles for you to read and enjoy, and there are some more articles in the editorial queue. Various changes are underway that will, as I hinted last month, reverse the downward trend of article submission. Again, you can help with this by submitting more articles!

Ongoing Work on HARP SF and HARP SF Xtreme

Last December, we were providing proof of life about the HARP SF product line. This December, we are closing in on the final release version of HARP SF. An "all-eyes" version has been handed over to my editors on this project so that they can help catch any residuals while Craig John completes the final odds and ends of the layout. In HARP SF Xtreme, Joel Lovell has finished the back cover for this product, completing all its needed illustrations. While we have been checking HARP SF, Craig took the opportunity to grab the entire text and the tables of HARP SF Xtreme and get them into a draft InDesign layout.

So to all the beta purchasers of "HARP SciFi" and the gamma purchasers of HARP SF, we're getting there with both products and I am absolutely confident that you will love the end results.

Guild Companion Forum on ICE and ecommerce

As some of you may have noticed, the Guild Companion magazine now has its own dedicated forum on the ICE forums. This is not just a place where we can announce a new issue. It is also intended as a place where you can discuss magazine articles, and is part-and-parcel of our strategy to breathe new life into the magazine and the ICE community as a whole.

At some point in the future, we will be making the current set of Guild Companion message boards read-only and have the ICE board as the place to chat about the magazine.

Our store on guild.ironcrown.com was safely deactivated and our products are now exclusively available through OneBookShelf and their network of affiliates.

Change is Coming

December 2009 was an editorial of hints about the future. 2010 has been a year of change for Guild Companion Publications (Ltd.) All I am permitted to say at this point is the year is not yet done!

Farewell for now ...

I have the various tasks of the season (which includes the annual royalty and diverse flat fee payments to GCP Ltd's various freelancers) to accomplish and final work on HARP SF and HARP SF Xtreme to supervise. On behalf of all the Guild Companion team, let me take this opportunity to wish everyone a very merry Christmas. We'll be back in the New Year with issue 143, but until then ...

Keep gaming and have fun,
Nicholas HM Caldwell
