Welcome

To the 135th issue of The Guild Companion and our monthly progress report.

Ongoing Work on HARP SF and HARP SF Xtreme

April was another month of more excellent illustrations. Rick Hansen is pushing very hard to finish off the remaining interior illos for HARP SF this month (May). So as long as there are no real-world issues at Rick's end, it'll be over to Andrew Ridgway for his masterful layout and finalising the book.

Meanwhile, the text of HARP SF Xtreme has been handed over for editing and proofreading. I've already received the feedback on about half of the book and am busy processing the comments. Addressing some of the issues will require the creation of a modest amount of extra material (to clarify edge cases etc.) After these additional chunks have survived the scrutiny of the alpha playtesters, I'll be making posts about them on both the TGC forums and the HARP SF subforum of the ICE forums.

The public beta testers of HARP SciFi will recall that a chunk of the Vehicles chapter discussed how to calculate travel times between worlds and stars as well as calculating distances travelled and speeds reached for varying accelerations. During the beta test, some tables for typical values were created. I've been redoing and streamlining these. They will be appearing in HARP SF Xtreme and equally usefully I will be making the spreadsheets (used to generate the finished tidy tables in the book) freely available so that HARP SF GMs can use them for their own purposes.

Guild Adventurer #4

Despite seasonal allergy attacks, Terry Amthor has been continuing to make progress on his adventure, Eyes of Stone. In parallel with this, I have a new artist commissioned to create the interior artwork for the other scenarios in TGA#4.

Shadow World Player's Guide

Shadow World Player's Guide is in layout with Craig John. We hope that the pdf will be ready for release by the end of this month. We will allow a few weeks for any errata to be spotted after this and then release the guide as a softcover printed version.

We will definitely be making the Player's Guide available in colour in both pdf and softcover printed versions.

Other Projects

Once I am safely off the critical path for HARP SF Xtreme, I will be returning to the completion of Something Wicked (I know a number of you are impatiently waiting on that product.) As the current set of working projects make their way to publication, GCP Ltd.'s focus will turn to the next set of products that are in various stages of preproduction. In due course, I will also be releasing details of new projects and seeking writers and contributors for them. Yes, a third set of projects for GCP Ltd. And the master strategy plan for GCP Ltd suggests further potential projects beyond this year. We are very much in this for the long haul and dedicated to ensuring that the games and settings you love will survive and flourish.

Farewell for now ...

I must return to work on HARP SF Xtreme, so I'll leave you to enjoy the rest of the issue. We'll be back in June with issue 136, but until then ...

Keep gaming and have fun,
