Elves and Half-Elves of the Forgotten Realms

This third installment covers the many varieties of elves and half-elves that populate the Forgotten Realms.

ELVES

Rather then sleeping elves enter a trance-like state in which the elf dreams of past accomplishments or to help in solving current concerns. 4 hours in this trance-like state is the equivalent to 8 hours of rest in a member of the other non-even races. During the trance the elf cannot be awoken except through an external stumulis. A slap or injury causing only concussion hits requires a meditation maneuver with a Sheer Folly difficulty level. Being injured by any attack that causes a critical allows the elf another meditation check with a Hard difficulty level. Successfully casting an [/i]Awake[/i] spell on an elf immediately awakens them.

Elf, Dark

Physical Character

Build: Drow stand just shy of human height and have slender, athletic builds. Physically, they resemble eladrin, with wiry builds and pleasing features.
Coloring: Midnight black skin that has a blue cast. Their eyes are fiery red, lavender, or blue. All drow have white hair, which most keep long and decorate with intricate pins and webbing wrought from precious metals. Aside from their tresses and eyebrows, drow have little facial hair, though males sometimes grow long sideburns or tufts of wispy hair on their cheeks and chins.
Height/Weight: Male 4'4" or Female 4'6" +2d6". Take the random roll from height and multiply that number by 1d6 and add (80 for males and 90 for females) to determine the character's weight in pounds.
Lifespan: Adulthood 110 years, middle age 175 years and can live up to 750 years.
Special Abilities: Darkvision to 120 feet; Darkness II from the Evil Essence spell list, Darkness once per day; Darkfire; a flickering halo of purple light surrounds the target, adding 10 to attacks against the target. May be used up to once per day; +10 to all Awareness: Searching skills; +10 to all Awareness: Perceptions [Alertness] skill checks. Immune to Sleep spells; If the character walks within 5 feet of a secret door they get a free search (Observation or Locate Hidden check) as if they were actively searching for the portal; +5 with Weapon: 1-handed Slashing [Rapier and Short Sword] and Weapon: Missile Weapon [Hand Crossbow]; Able to cast Light I spell off of the Magician base list Light Law once per day. Lights appear as up to 4 small lights that must stay within 10' of each other. Able to cast the Glow spell from the Closed Mentalism spell list Brilliance list once per day. The spell negates the bonuses given by all Blur and Invisibility spells and allows a target to be seen even in magical Darkness; and Requires only 4 hours of sleep.

Culture

Fears & Inabilities: -10 to all skill or attack rolls while in direct sunlight or other magical sunlight-type spell; Recovery Multiplier 1.5; and -20 to all RRs when attacked by light attacks;
Religion: The Dark Seldarine (primarily Lolth with Vhaeraun being second most worshipped). Eilistraee (good drow).

Other Factors

Language: Starting Languages: Elven (S8/W6), Undercommon (S8/W6) and Appropriate Regional Language (S8/W6). Allowed Adolescence Development: Appropriate Regional Language up to (S6/W6). Drow have developed a unique sign language, Drow Sign Language, which allows silent communication with hand gestures up to 120 feet away as long as both parties can see each other. Drow�Sign Language has no alphabet or written form.
Professions: Females (Cleric, Sorcerer or Magician), Males (Fighter, Ranger, Outrider, Rogue, Sorcerer or Magician). Rare Swashbuckler, Illusionist, Dabbler, Magent, Bard, Thief

Elf, Moon

Build: Moon elves are roughly identical to other elves in height and build.
Coloring: The have fair skin, sometimes tinged with blue, and hair of silver-white, black or blue; human-like colors are somewhat rare. Their eyes are blue or green, with gold flecks.
Height/Weight: Male 4'10" or Female 4'5" +2d10". Take the random roll from height and multiply that number by 2d4 and add (90 for males and 70 for females) to determine the character's weight in pounds.
Lifespan: Adulthood 110 years, middle age 175 years and can live up to 700 years.
Special Abilities: Low-light Vision; +10 to all Awareness: Searching skills; +10 to all Awareness: Perceptions [Alertness] skill checks; Immune to Sleep spells; If the character walks within 5 feet of a secret door they get a free search (Observation or Locate Hidden check) as if they were actively searching for the portal; +5 with Weapon: 1-handed Slashing [Long Sword and Rapier] and Weapon: Missile Weapon [any Bow]; and Requires only 4 hours of sleep.

Region: The Dalelands, elf (moon), Evermeet, the High Forest, the North, Silverymoon, or the Western Heartlands.
Fears & Inabilities: Recovery Multiplier 1.5.
Religion: Moon elves worship the Seldarine. Angharradh is the most popular.

Elf, Star

Physical Character

Build: Of all the elven subraces, star elves most closely resemble moon elves. Like the sun elves or moon elves, star elves are tall and slender; men average between 5 1/2 and 6 feet in height and weigh around 140 pounds, while women are about half a foot shorter and weigh around 110 pounds. Star elves are graceful and strikingly handsome by human standards.
Coloring: They have pale skin that sometimes takes on a pearly gray or faintly violet tinge, and hair of gold, red, or silver-white. Their eyes are gray or violet; sometimes with gold flecks.
Height/Weight: Male 4'10" or Female 4'5" +2d10". Take the random roll from height and multiply that number by 1d6 and add (95 for males and 75 for females) to determine the character's weight in pounds.
Lifespan: Reaches adulthood at 110, middle age at 175 years and can live to be 750 years old.
Special Abilities: Low-light Vision; Immune to sleep spells; +10 to RRs versus enchantment spells; +10 to all Awareness: Searching [Observation and Locate Hidden] skill checks; If the character walks within 5 feet of a secret door they get a free search (Observation or Locate Hidden check) as if they were actively searching for the portal; and Ghost Touch ability. Allows the character to hit incorporeal opponents by expending 20% action in the turn before the intended attack.

Culture

Region: Most star elves live in the extraplanar realm of Sild�yuir. A small number already live quietly among the people of Aglarond, and choose that region instead.
Fears & Inabilities: Since star elves are extraplanar creatures they may be banished back to their home plane (Sild�yuir).
Religion: Star elves venerate the Seldarine.

Alignment: Most star elves prefer not to involve themselves in the world's troubles. star elf society values individual accomplishment and rights over collective effort, so they lean toward chaotic rather than lawful alignments (CG or CN).

Height/Weight: Male 4'10" or Female 45" +2d10". Take the random roll from height and multiply that number by 2d4 and add (90 for males and 70 for females) to determine the character's weight in pounds.
Lifespan: Adulthood 210 years, middle age 315 years and can live up to 1000 years.
Special Abilities: Low-light Vision; +10 to all Awareness: Searching skills; +10 to all Awareness: Perceptions [Alertness] skill checks; If the character walks within 5 feet of a secret door they get a free search (Observation or Locate Hidden check) as if they were actively searching for the portal; Immune to Sleep spells; +5 with 1-handed Slashing [Long Sword and Rapier] and Weapon: Missile Weapon [any Bow]; and Requires only 4 hours of sleep.

Coloring: Their skin tends to be dark brown, and their hair ranges from black to light brown, lightening to silvery white with age.
Height/Weight: Male 4'10" or Female 45" +2d10". Take the random roll from height and multiply that number by 2d4 and add (100 for males and 80 for females) to determine the character's weight in pounds.
Lifespan: Adulthood 110 years, middle age 175 years and can live to 700 years of age.

HALF-ELF

Physical Character

Build: Half-elves are more slender than humans, and more heavily built than elves. Since the elves of Faer�n are taller and more sturdily built than the elves of other worlds, Faer�nian half-elves are very close to human size and weight.
Coloring: Common half-elves blend human and elven features, influenced by the subrace of their elven parent and the ethnicity of their human parent. Moon half-elves have pale skin tinged bluish around the ears and chin, framing their lower faces. Sun half-elves have bronzed skin, and hair of gold. Wild half-elves have brown skin. Wood half-elves have coppery skin tinged with green highlights.
Height: Male 4'10" or Female 4'5" +2d10". Take the random roll from height and multiply that number by 2d4 and add (110 for males and 80 for females) to determine the character's weight in pounds.
Lifespan: Adulthood 20 years, middle age 62 years and can live to 185 years of age.
Special Abilities: Low-light Vision; Immune to sleep spells; +10 to RRs versus enchantment spells; +5 to all Awareness: Search [Observation and Locate Hidden] skill checks; and +10 to all Influence: Diplomacy and Duping skill checks.

Coloring: Half-aquatic elves have pale green skin. Their hair can be any human color, but it usually has a faint green or blue cast to it. As they age, their hair becomes blue-silver.
