Mind over Matter - Chapter 3

Edited by Terence Wynne for The Guild Companion

"The caster of this psion can turn opponents against each other by making insinuating statements. Targets who fail to resist forget the caster and argue among themselves."

Mind Over Matter: a Psionics Companion for RMSS/RMFRP

Although the lists in this, the previous chapter, and the following chapters are based on those in both the Spell User's Companion and in the earlier editions of Spacemaster, rather than replicating them exactly, I have modified details, in some cases completely rewritten, discarded and added new psions. The use of metrical parameters has been changed to imperial ones, and in most cases these have been revised downwards, to reflect a less systematised (and less potent) form of psionic ability.

* round up.

1—Refraction (M)
The caster of this psion makes an inanimate object, up to 100 cubic feet in volume, appear to be moved up to ten feet to one side. Touch, and other senses, may well dispel the effect of this refraction.
2—Ventriloquism (M)
The caster of this psion can speak, and his voice will appear to come from any spot both within 100' and the caster's field of vision. Each round, the caster may make the voice appear to come from another spot.
3—Audio Impersonation (M)
The caster of this psion is able to mimic the voice of any one person that he have heard within the last day. If listeners makes their RR (since RRs apply to all who hear) by less than 51, they only hear the caster speak normally; if they make it by more than 50, they realize what the caster has attempted, and can act normally upon this knowledge.
4—Deafness (M)
By suppressing specific mental activity in one target, the caster of this psion causes deafness.
5—Visual Impersonation (M)
The caster of this psion is able to imitate the appearance of any one person that he has seen in the previous day (to those who fail their RR). If viewers make their RR by less than 51, the caster appears as normal; if they make it by more than 50, they are aware of what the caster was attempting to do and can act accordingly.
6—Facade (M)
The caster can cause a two-dimensional area up to ten yards by ten yards to assume whatever forms the caster so desires. Touch and other senses can reveal the true nature of the illusion so created.
7—Displacement I (M)
The caster of this psion appears offset from where he really is. He gains +10 to his DB in combat (this does not apply to area-affecting directed spells), which is reduced by -5 for every attack that misses.
8—Visual Illusion V (M)
The caster of this psion can create a three-dimensional visual illusion in the area of effect. The illusion can be very detailed, and it remains in place even if touched and passed through.
9—Phantasm I (*)
The caster of this psion can create the image of one object or being. This can move however the caster desires when the caster concentrates. Whenever the caster stops concentrating, the image is immobile, but it can resume moving whenever the caster resumes concentrating.
10—Sonic Barrier (M)
The caster of this psion can create either a two-dimensional barrier of up to 1000 square feet, or a hemisphere of up to fifteen feet radius which serves as a sonic barrier, where sounds cannot pass past it in either direction.
11—Audio Impersonation True (M)
RR Mod: -25 The caster is able to imitate the voice of one person that he has either heard within the previous day or that they have pattern stored (see Pattern Sore on the Possession List, below) to all who fail their RRs. To targets who make their RR by less than 51, the caster's voice appears as normal. If they make it by more than 50, they know the caster's intent and can act accordingly.
12—Visual Impersonation True (M)
RR Mod: -25 The caster is able to imitate the appearance of one person that he has either seen within the previous day or for whom he has a pattern stored (see Pattern Sore on the Possession List, below) to all who fail their RRs. For targets who make their RR by less than 51, the caster's voice appears as normal. If they make it by more than 50, they know the caster's intent and can act accordingly.
13—Visual Illusion X (M)
The caster of this psion can create a three-dimensional illusion of up to 50' in radius. For every five feet in radius under this maximum amount, there is a RR Mod of -5 (to a maximum of -25). The illusion can be very detailed, and it remains in place even if touched and passed through.
14—Phantasm III (M)
The caster of this psion can create the image of up to three objects or beings. These can move however the caster desires when the caster concentrates. Whenever the caster stops concentrating, the images are immobile, but they can resume moving whenever the caster resumes concentrating. Each image must be 50 cubic feet or less in volume.
15—Displacement III (M)
The caster of this psion appears offset from where he really is. He gains +20 to their DB in combat (this does not apply to area-affecting directed spells), which is reduced by -5 for every attack that misses.
16—Created Image (M)
The caster creates the image of any one object or being. This image will move as the caster so desires, as long as the caster concentrates; if the caster stops concentrating, the image becomes immobile, however it can resume moving when the caster resumes concentrating.
17—Visual Barrier (M)
The caster of this psion can create either a two-dimensional barrier of up to 1000 square feet, or a hemisphere of up to fifteen feet radius which serves as a visual barrier, where light and images cannot pass past it in either direction (it appears opaque, black).
18—Visual Illusion V (M)
The caster of this psion can create a three-dimensional illusion of up to 75' in radius. For every five feet in radius under this maximum amount, there is a RR Mod of -5 (to a maximum of -50). The illusion can be very detailed, and it remains in place even if touched and passed through.
19—Phantasm V (M)
The caster of this psion can create the image of up to five objects or beings. These can move however the caster desires when the caster concentrates. Whenever the caster stops concentrating, the images are immobile, but they can resume moving whenever the caster resumes concentrating. Each image must be 50 cubic feet or less in volume.
20—Displacement III (M)
The caster of this psion appears offset from where he really is. They gain +30 to their DB in combat (this does not apply to area-affecting directed spells), which is reduced by -5 for every attack that misses.
25—Facade True (M)
The caster can cause a two-dimensional area up to a hundred yards by a hundred yards to assume whatever forms the caster so desires. Touch and other senses can reveal the true nature of the illusion so created.
30—Mirage (M)
The caster of this psion is able to create a three-dimensional illusion of great complexity, up to five miles in radius, such as a town, castle, dragon, etc. The mirage can be made to move if the caster concentrates. The illusion can be very detailed, and it remains in place even if touched and passed through.
50—Mirage True (M)
The caster of this psion is able to create a three-dimensional illusion of great complexity, up to fifty miles in radius, such as a town, castle, dragon, etcetera. The mirage can be made to move if the caster concentrates. The illusion can be very detailed, and it remains in place even if touched and passed through.

1—Distraction (M)
While the caster of this psion concentrates, the target is at -25 to all actions.
2—Touch of Unconsciousness (M)
The target of this psion falls into a state resembling natural sleep. He can be easily awakened but is at -25 for the first two rounds immediately after being awakened.
3—Disorientation (M)
The target of this psion is at -25 to all of their orientation and initiative rolls. This effect lasts for one day per 5% of RR failure.
4—Fiery Nerves (M)
The target of this psion receives a dreadful amount of pain. He temporarily receives 50% of the hits he has remaining before he falls unconscious, for the duration of this spell. All penalties accruing from this loss apply. If, as a result of further injuries, they are driven over this maximum, and fall unconscious, then this damage becomes permanent; that is, it lasts beyond this psion's duration, though it may be healed normally, as per any other concussion damage.
5—Blinding (M)
The target of this psion is blinded, and unable to see. He is at -100 for all rolls/skills affected by sight, but at -50 if other senses are also involved.
6—Blast (M)
The target of this psion takes an A impact critical, as if he had been struck by an explosion or massive force.
7—Paralysis (M)
The target of this psion is paralyzed and cannot normally move. The paralysis lasts for one round per 10% of RR failure.
8—Unconsciousness (M)
The target of this psion must make a RR or fall into a state similar to deep, dreamless sleep. He can be easily awakened, but is at -25 for the first round after awakening, as he reorientates himself.
9—Fiery Nerves True (M)
The target of this psion receives a dreadful amount of pain. He temporarily receives all but 10 of the hits he has remaining before he falls unconscious, for the duration of this spell. All penalties accruing from this loss apply. If, as a result of further injuries, he are driven over this maximum, and fall unconscious, then this damage becomes permanent; that is, it lasts beyond this psion's duration, though it may be healed normally, as per any other concussion damage.
10—Mind Shout I (M*)
Everyone bar the psionist within ten feet is a target of this psion. Those that fail to make their RR are stunned for 1 round per 10% of failure. Targets that are unable to hear are at +25 to their RRs.
11—Transferral I (M)
The caster of this psion and the target switch minds. While the caster is at -50 while his mind is in the target's body, the target's mind is inactive but aware. The target may attempt a RR once to return to his body, but the caster's mind may return to its body at any time. If either (or both) of the bodies are destroyed during this psion's duration, the psion is broken: The mind of the original body is destroyed in effect, and its soul is subject to soul departure rules. The other mind is returned to its body, but that person is in a coma for a day, due to the shock involved.
12—Coma (M)
The target of this psion is in a coma, being both unconscious and unwakeable for one hour per 10% failure of his RR.
13—Blast II (M)
The target of this psion takes a B impact critical, as if he had been struck by an explosion or massive force.
14—Sensory Deprivation (M)
The body of the target of this psion is totally deprived of all sensory input, and it is virtually incapable of any action (other than those that are automatic, such as breathing) without artificial aid.
15—Mind Shout II (M*)
Everyone bar the psionist within fifty feet is a target of this psion. Those that fail to make their RR are stunned for 1 round per 10% of failure. Targets that are unable to hear are at +25 to their RRs.
16—Touch of Pain (M)
This psion allows the caster to touch one or more targets, and cause one concussion hit of damage per level of the caster, provided the target or targets fail their RR.
17—Transferral II (M)
The caster of this psion and the target switch minds. While the caster is at -25 while his mind is in the target's body, the target's mind is inactive but aware.
18—Touch of Coma (M)
With this psion, the caster may touch up to one target per round (up to one minute per level) and the targets of this psion are in a coma, being both unconscious and unwakeable for one hour per 10% failure of their RR.
19—Blast III (M)
The target of this psion takes a C impact critical, as if he had been struck by an explosion or massive force.
20—Lord Paralysis (M)
RR Mod: -25 The target of this psion is paralyzed and cannot normally move. The paralysis lasts for one round per 10% of RR failure.
25—Great Shout (M*)
Everyone bar the psionist within one hundred feet is a target of this psion. Those that fail to make their RR are stunned for 1 round per 10% of failure. All those failing their RR by 50 or more are unconscious and at maximum hits. Targets that are unable to hear are at +25 to their RRs.
30—Lord Transferral (M)
The caster of this psion and the target switch minds. While the caster is at -10 while his mind is in the target's body, the target's mind is inactive but aware.
50—Great Shout True (M*)
RR Mod: -25 (only to all psionicists) Everyone bar the psionist within one hundred feet is a target of this psion. Those that fail to make their RR are unconscious and at maximum hits. Those that fail their RR by 50 or more are dead. Targets that are unable to hear are at +25 to their RRs.

1—View (I)
This psion allows the caster to "view" a scene through another being's eyes. The target must either be both in range and in sight, or within range and pattern stored (see Pattern Store, level three). The caster is in a trance and is Extremely Hard (-30) to awaken while using this psion.
2—Assume Senses (I)
This psion allows the caster to "sense" using another being's senses. The target must either be both in range and in sight, or within range and pattern stored (see Pattern Store, level three). Only one sense may be used per round, but the senses can easily be switched between. The caster is in a trance and is Extremely Hard (-30) to awaken while using this psion.
3—Pattern Store (I*)
The caster of this psion records (and stores) the mental patterns of any one being, for use later with other psions (such as those on this list).
4—Locate Target (I)
The caster of this psion can detect the exact location of a being that has been pattern stored, so long as the being is within range. The caster does not need to see or otherwise sense the being.
5—Sense (M)
The caster of this psion can use all of the senses of another being. The target must either be both in range and in sight, or within range and pattern stored (see Pattern Store, level three). The caster is in a trance and is Extremely Hard (-30) to awaken while using this psion.
6—Metempsion (M*)
The caster of this psion, when on the threshold of death, is able to transfer his soul to another living body within range. This psion may only be attempted once per near death event. The caster's soul will drive out and destroy the resident soul of the new body, will have full control of the body, and retain its own skills, assuming that this psion is successful. The caster, however, will not gain any of the skills or memories of the new body. If the caster inhabits an animal, the caster does gain all of that animal's instincts. This psion is permanent, and the caster is able to move to another body when the old one is exhausted. The caster may even transfer to a plant, but the caster will be subject to all of the movement and sensory restrictions of that form.
7—Transferral (M)
Transferral is a temporary and less drastic version of Metempsion. With this psion, the caster's soul and the target's souls are exchanged. The caster is able to operate in the body of the target, at -10 to all rolls. The target, however, is helpless and immobile in the caster's body. The target may try and break the transferral once every ten minutes, by making another RR, but at -20. The caster may cancel this psion at any time. Should either body be killed, the resident consciousness is destroyed, and the other pairing is tied forever.
8—Far View (M)
This psion allows the caster to "view" a scene through another being's eyes. The target must either be both in range and in sight, or within range and pattern stored (see Pattern Store, level three). The caster must have the target Pattern Stored in order to gain the 100'/level range; otherwise it remains at 10'/level.
9—Far Sense (M)
The caster of this psion can use all of the senses of another being. The target must either be both in range and in sight, or within range and pattern stored (see Pattern Store, level three). The caster must have the target Pattern Stored in order to gain the 100'/level range; otherwise it remains at 10'/level.
10—Knowing Transferral (M)
The consciousness of both the caster and the target share the target's body. This is best done with a willing target (thereby gaining +50 towards success), but it is possible to be cast against an unwilling target. This could lead to the target's body being incapacitated; the caster's body appears comatose, and is in a very vulnerable position. The two bodies must remain in range of each other, or the psion is cancelled.
11—Distort Senses (M)
The caster can affect the senses of the target, by removing one of their senses (e.g. Hearing, sight, touch, smell, etc.). The target will know that they are being affected.
12—Ready Metempsion (M*)
This psion allows the caster to preset the target of Metempsion, using Pattern Store. The target must be within range at the time of death or the caster fails.
13—Distant View (M)
This psion allows the caster to "view" a scene through another being's eyes. The target must either be both in range and in sight, or within range and pattern stored (see Pattern Store, level three). The caster must have the target Pattern Stored in order to gain the five miles/level range; otherwise it remains at 10'/level.
14—Distant Sense (M)
The caster of this psion can use all of the senses of another being. The target must either be both in range and in sight, or within range and pattern stored (see Pattern Store, level three). The caster must have the target Pattern Stored in order to gain the five miles/level range; otherwise it remains at 10'/level.
15—Mind Slayer (M)
The caster of this psion drives the target's soul out of their body, rendering it comatose. The target's soul is not destroyed, merely errant, wandering, and "lost." The body may be inhabited by another soul (5% chance per hour).
16—Sensory Deprivation (M)
The caster can affect the senses of the target, by removing all applicable senses (e.g. Hearing, sight, touch, smell, etcetera). The target will know that he is being affected.
17—View True (M)
This psion allows the caster to "view" a scene through another being's eyes. The target must either be both in range and in sight, or within range and pattern stored (see Pattern Store, level three). The caster must have the target Pattern Stored in order to gain the fifty miles/level range; otherwise it remains at 10'/level.
18—Sense True (M)
The caster of this psion can use all of the senses of another being. The target must either be both in range and in sight, or within range and pattern stored (see Pattern Store, level three). The caster must have the target Pattern Stored in order to gain the fifty miles/level range; otherwise it remains at 10'/level.
19—Unity (M)
The souls of the caster and the target are united in such a way that, should the caster or the target soul be removed from the body, as with Mind Slayer or ordinary death, the affected soul remains so long as the other soul remains in contact with its body. The target does not need to be Pattern Stored; if the caster has Metempsion, and his body has died, he may cast Metempsion at any point while his soul is in his body. The two bodies must be in range when this psion is cast for it to have effect; they may move out of this range afterwards.
20—Lord Metempsion (M*)
RR Mod: -20 This psion allows the caster's soul to travel any distance to unite with a predetermined body. If the target fails a RR, the caster has full control of the body.
25—Transferral True (M)
RR Mod: -20 Transferral is a temporary and less drastic version of Metempsion. With this psion, the caster's soul and the target's souls are exchanged. The caster is able to operate in the body of the target, with no penalty to any roll. The target, however, is helpless and immobile in the caster's body. The caster may cancel this psion at any time. Should either body be killed, the resident consciousness is destroyed, and the other pairing is tied forever. When the caster returns to his body, the target has no concept of any passed time.
30—Mind Slayer True (M)
RR Mod: -20 The caster of this psion drives the target's soul out of his body, rendering it comatose. The target's soul is utterly destroyed. The body may be inhabited by another soul (5% chance per hour).
50—Psionic Body (M)
The caster of this psion is able to function without his body. If his body is destroyed, he maintains an invisible, non-corporeal existence, being able to cast psions and use certain skills (GM fiat). The psionic body is -100 to physical attacks, and -50 to both psionic and magical attacks. Should the caster utilize this psion while his body is intact, he must return to it within 1 day per level, or else the body will die, and he must remain in an incorporeal state.

1—Numbing (F)
A random limb of the target of this psion is numb and effectively useless.
2—Pain (F)
The target of this psion feels pain, and operates at -25 to all rolls.
3—Choke (F)
The target of this psion feels a constricting band around his neck. The first round, he is at -10; the second, he is at -30, and so on until the tenth, when the target is at -100 and unconscious (max. hits). If the caster concentrates for another ten rounds, the target is dies.
4—Unbalance (F)
The target of this psion becomes unbalanced. If he is moving, he trips and falls, being able to recover in 1-4 rounds. If he is performing a maneuver, he is at -100 for that maneuver.
5—Touch of Disruption (F)
The bones and soft tissues of the target are disrupted, as if he had fallen a long distance. If the target fails his RR, he takes a certain Impact critical according to the amount the RR is failed by: 1-10 = 'A'; 11-30 = 'B'; 31-60 = 'C'; 61-100 = 'D'; 101 or greater = 'E.'
6—Agony (F)
The target of this psion feels pain, and operates at -50 to all rolls.
7—Pain III (F)
Up to three targets of this psion feel pain, and operate at -25 to all rolls.
8—Choke True (F)
The target of this psion feels a constricting band around his neck. The first round, he is at -10; the second, he is at -30, and so on until the tenth, when he is at -100 and unconscious (max. hits). This does not require concentration. Alternatively, the caster can concentrate, and cause the target to be at -90. If the caster concentrates for ten rounds, the target becomes unconscious.
9—Cramp (F)
The target of this psion is afflicted by intense cramping of the abdomen. The target is incapacitated while he vomits for four rounds, and is then at -50 to all actions for twenty-four hours.
10—Energy Channel (F)
RR Mod: -25 This is a destructive channeling of raw psionic energy. The caster extends his hands, and energy lances out and strikes the target. Each round, the target receives a 'B' Electricity critical, and is at -50; each round that this psion is in effect, the caster must extend ten PP. The target receives only one, initial RR.
11—Burst (M)
The caster of this psion causes all of the target's synapses to painfully trigger at once. Each round, the target receives an 'A' Impact critical while this psion is in effect. The target may try and make a RR each round to break the power of this psion. In order for this psion to be effectively used, the caster must initially touch the target while casting it; thereafter, the two may be at any distance.
12—Agony III (F)
Up to three targets of this psion feel pain, and operate at -50 to all rolls.
13—Disruption (F)
The bones and soft tissues of the target are disrupted, as if he had fallen a long distance. If the target fails his RR, he takes a certain Impact critical according to the amount he fails by: 1-10 = 'A'; 11-30 = 'B'; 31-60 = 'C'; 61-100 = 'D'; 101 or greater = 'E.'
14—True Agony (F)
The target of this psion feels pain, and operates at -75 to all rolls.
15—Mass Pain (F)
Up to one target per caster level of this psion feels pain, and operates at -25 to all rolls.
16—Mind's Fracture (M)
The target of this psion feels as if one bone (caster's choice) has been broken. The target is at -1 per caster level, to all actions that would normally be affected by a broken bone in that area.
17—Burst II (M)
The caster of this psion causes all of the target's synapses to painfully trigger at once. Each round, the target receives a 'B' Impact critical while this psion is in effect. The target may try and make a RR each round to break the power of this psion. In order for this psion to be effectively used, the caster must initially touch the target while casting it; thereafter, the two may be at any distance.
18—Agony V (F)
Up to five targets of this psion feel pain, and operate at -25 to all rolls.
19—Long Disruption (F)
The bones and soft tissues of the target are disrupted, as if he had fallen a long distance. If the target fails their RR, they take a certain Impact critical according to the amount they fail by: 1-10 = 'A'; 11-30 = 'B'; 31-60 = 'C'; 61-100 = 'D'; 101 or greater = 'E'.
20—Energy Channel True (F)
RR Mod: -50 This is a destructive channeling of raw psionic energy. The caster extends their hands, and energy lances out and strikes the target. Each round, the target receives an 'E' Electricity critical, and is at -100; each round that this psion is in effect, the caster must extend twenty PP. The target receives only one, initial RR.
25—Torment (F)
The target of this psion feels pain, and operates at -100 to all rolls, due to the intensity of the pain.
30—Disruption True (F)
The bones and soft tissues of the target are disrupted, as if he had fallen a long distance. If the target fails his RR, they take an 'E' Impact.
50—Thought Into Pain (F)
The caster of this psion may use any of the lesser psions on this list, one per round, as long as he concentrates. These psions do not cost PP additional to the 50 used to cast this one.

1—Detect Tampering (M)
This psion allows the caster to detect whether the target's mind has been telepathically tampered with, as with the psions on this list and Mind Assault especially. The original, tampering psion may resist detection at the level of the original psion's caster.
2—Forget I (M)
The target of this psion forgets a one minute block of time from his memory; the time lost is the caster's choice, but must be continuous.
3—Confusion (M)
The target of this psion is incapable of making decisions or taking offensive action. He may continue to fight a current foe in melee, or else act in self-defense. The effect lasts for one round per 5% of RR failure.
4—Lapse (M)
The target momentarily forgets to do whatever he was planning to do that round, such as make a melee attack (resulting in -25 to OB), or how to cast a certain psion or spell, (in which case he loses concentration). A target making a superior orientation roll might be able to make another option that round, however.
5—Mind Blank (M)
The mind of the target of this psion is temporarily blank, and he can do nothing.
6—Forget II (M)
The target of this psion forgets a ten minute block of time from his memory; the time lost is the caster's choice, but must be continuous.
7—Mind Restoration (M)
This psion works to reverse the effects of other Mind Control and Mind Assault psions. The original psion must fail a RR: The attack psion's level is equal to the level of the caster of that psion, and it must fail against the level of the caster of this psion to be cancelled. If the original attack psion is not cancelled, the caster of this psion may not attempt to cancel it again until they have gone up another experience level. Another psion may try, however.
8—Unlearning I (M)
The target loses one skill for one hour (e.g. the ability to use a sword in one particular hand is lost, and the target suffers of penalty of -25 OB). The caster must know that the target has the skill before he can make him Unlearn it. (Seeing a sword in the caster's hand is enough, though, to assume he has such a skill.)
9—Forget III (M)
The target of this psion forgets a one hour block of time from his memory; the time lost is the caster's choice, but must be continuous.
10—Implant Thought (M)
The caster of this psion is able to implant one single concept thought in the target's head. The thought should not be absolutely contrary to the target's normal lines of thinking, otherwise the target is at +50 for his RR. If the target resists by more than 25, he perceives what is being attempted.
11—Unminding (M)
The mind of the target of this psion is completely blank for one round per 5% of RR failure. He cannot perceive events, time, or activity, and he is stunned for one round after his mind returns.
12—Forget IV (M)
The target of this psion forgets a six hour block of time from his memory; the time lost is the caster's choice, but must be continuous.
13—Unlearning II (M)
The target loses one skill for one day (e.g. the ability to use a sword in one particular hand is lost, and the target suffers of penalty of -25 OB). The caster must know that the target has the skill before they can make them Unlearn it. (Seeing a sword in the caster's hand is enough, though, to assume they have such a skill.)
14—Amnesia (M)
The target of this psion forgets who he is, who his friends are, and his entire life background for one day per 5% of RR failure. He retains all his skills and psion knowledge (if any).
15—Implant Memory (M)
The caster of this psion may implant one memory in the mind of his target, causing the target to believe that he did or said something in the past. The memory should not be absolutely contrary to the target's normal lines of thinking, otherwise the target is at +50 for his RR. If the target resists by more than 25, he perceives what is being attempted.
16—Stunning Remembrance (M)
The caster of this psion causes the target to remember or relive any one traumatic experience with perfect clarity. This translates to a stunning effect which lasts for one round per level of the caster. The target is allowed a RR per round, in order to break the effect of this psion.
17—Lunacy (M)
With this psion, the caster causes the target to exhibit one of four actions (determine randomly):
1) Catatonia: With this effect, the target falls into a nonactive, catatonic state;
2) Berserker Rage: This causes the target to act in a berserk manner with total disregard for friends or foes. The target gains in strength as his inhibition is lost (treat as frenzy);
3) Confusion: This causes the target's mind to wander with abandon. The target is unable to focus his concentration on any one task. This has the effect of making spell casting, psion casting, and any attempted maneuver to be difficult (at -1 per level of the caster); &
4) Convulsions: This causes the target to be affected by a series of convulsions of varying intensity. The target is at minus 1-100 (percentile roll, not open-ended) to all physical activity. The target is likely to injure themselves during the period of these convulsions.
The target may make one RR per round in order to break the effect of this psion.
18—Unlearning III (M)
The target loses one skill for one week (e.g. the ability to use a sword in one particular hand is lost, and the target suffers of penalty of -25 OB). The caster must know that the target has the skill before they can make them Unlearn it. (Seeing a sword in the caster's hand is enough, though, to assume they have such a skill.)
19—Forget True (M)
The target of this psion forgets a one hour block of time per caster level from their memory; the time lost is the caster's choice, but must be continuous.
20—Cruel Unminding (M)
The target of this psion forgets all of his skills, but is unaware that he has forgotten them until he tries to use them. Each attempt to cast a spell or psion invariably ends up in failure. Any maneuver or attack is done with a base skill bonus of -25. The psion lasts for one round per 5% that the target has failed his RR.
25—Unlearning True (M)
The target loses one skill permanently (e.g. the ability to use a sword in one particular hand is lost, and the target suffers of penalty of -25 OB). The caster must know that the target has the skill before he can make them Unlearn it. (Seeing a sword in the caster's hand is enough, though, to assume he has such a skill.) The target may relearn the skill by spending more development points.
30—Mind Break (M)
The Reasoning, Intuition, and Memory of the target of this psion temporarily drop to 02, for the duration of this psion. The target may be led about and fed, but he is essentially both mindless and useless. He can take no independent action.
50—Implant Thought Pattern (M)
The caster of this psion can alter the target's entire way of thinking. For example, he may change the target‚euro(TM)s personality, who he thinks his friends are, his outlook, and so on. His old memories are repressed, but skills remain unaffected. The target may try and resist the psion's effects once every ten days. If cast immediately after Amnesia, the psion has a -25 modifier to the target's RR, and the target gains no RR for the duration of the amnesia.
