"From legends and hints in ancient records, it can be inferred that other Elemental niches exist such as Elemental Warbeasts and Elemental Drakes."

Elementals are divided by Elemental subrace - one for each element of Air, Earth, Fire and Water. Elementals can also be classified by their niche in "Elemental society" - thus there are Elemental Servitors, Elemental Steeds, Elemental Destriers and what some loremasters call the True Elementals - Elemental Hunters, Elemental Savants, and Elemental Warriors. From legends and hints in ancient records, it can be inferred that other Elemental niches exist such as Elemental Warbeasts and Elemental Drakes. Individuals of each subrace and niche can be further classified according to their power in six Classes, ranging from Class I (the least powerful) to Class VI (the most powerful). Of these, only Classes I through V may be summoned by spell or ritual. Class VI Elementals are equivalent to demigods, demon princes and other beings of eldritch might.

Class I: These are the least powerful Elementals. All Elemental Servitors and Elemental Steeds are Class I Elementals. Among the True Elementals, Class I Elementals are known as Minor Elementals. Minor Elemental Hunters will be Hunters by profession of around 10th level, Minor Elemental Savants will be Elementalists of around 10th level, and Minor Elemental Warriors are Monks of around 10th level.

Class II: The next step up in power. Elemental Destriers are Class II Elementals. Among the True Elementals, Class II Elementals are known as Lesser Elementals. Lesser Elemental Hunters will be Hunters by profession of around 15th level, Lesser Elemental Savants will be Elementalists of around 15th level, and Lesser Elemental Warriors are Monks of around 15th level.

Class III: The True Elementals of this category are known as Greater Elementals and some demonstrate a degree of mastery in the magical arts. Greater Elemental Hunters will typically have either 20 levels in the Hunter profession or 15 in Hunter and 5 levels in Ranger or a similar profession. Greater Elemental Warriors will frequently have 20 levels in the Monk profession; some opt for 15 levels in Monk and 5 levels in the Warrior Mage or a similar profession. Greater Elemental Savants will normally continue to advance as Elementalists to 20th level; many will take an Additional Circle Talent to access the spells of another variant Mage profession.

Class IV: The True Elementals of this category are known as Major Elementals and all demonstrate some mastery in the magical arts. Major Elemental Hunters will typically be of 30th level with at least fifteen levels in Hunter and 10 levels in Ranger or a similar profession. Major Elemental Warriors will typically be of 30th level, with at least 15 levels in the Fighter profession and 10 levels in the Warrior Mage or a similar profession. Major Elemental Savants will continue to advance as Elementalists to 30th level but will typically acquire a second Additional Circle Talent to expand their spell repertoire even further.

Class V: The True Elementals of this category are known as High Elementals and are the most powerful that can be summoned by any form of magic, although this is an extraordinarily dangerous undertaking. A "typical" High Elemental might be of 50th level - their additional levels above 30 will be distributed in their chosen professions according to their individual inclinations.

Class VI: These are the almost mythical overlords of the Elementals. They cannot be summoned or controlled. They are aloof and inhuman, content to dwell in and rule their subplanes. There are at least two Class VI Elementals for each element, one "masculine", one "feminine": the Weaver of Winds (Air, male), the Eye of the Storm (Air, female), the Master of Metal (Earth, male), the Shaper of Stone (Earth, female), the Guardian of Flame (Fire, male), the Lady of Light (Fire, female), the Lord of Ice (Water, male), and the Empress of the Sea (Water, female).
